Live Oak School District

The Grow Collective began partnering with Live Oak School District in 2026 to support their development of the Field of Dreams, a 1.1-acre educational farm created on the site of a former baseball field. The farm provides fresh produce for school nutrition programs while giving students hands-on opportunities to learn where their food comes from.

As Live Oak School District inspires the next generation of healthy eaters, The Grow Collective is helping build capacity for a closed-loop food system that transforms food waste into a valuable resource. Together, we are developing systems that compost food scraps on-site, rebuild healthy soils, return carbon to the ground, and create a more resilient and sustainable school food system.

This program is only two years old and already benefits from strong school district leadership, a dedicated volunteer community, and the support of local elected officials. It is a powerful example of what is possible when a community comes together around a shared vision.

Stroke and Disability Learning Center at Cabrillo Community College

This weekly class is offered to adults with disabilities participating in programming committed to learning and healing. The class is lively and fun, with plenty of interaction, laughter, and social connection centered around hands-on, plant-based activities. Working with plants can be therapeutic, reduce stress, and lift mood. Sessions are thoughtfully designed so participants of all abilities can engage their fine and gross motor skills while stimulating the senses.

Rooted in the principles of therapeutic horticulture, each session uses gardening and nature-based activities to support physical, cognitive, social, and emotional well-being. Participants not only cultivate plants but also confidence, creativity, connection, and a sense of purpose. As we nurture, cultivate, and grow plants, we do the same for ourselves.
