School Garden Program

We began working with Lincoln County School District (LCSD) to start a district-wide school garden program in 2019. Each year the program grows, expands, or evolves. There is a 10-year expansion and training plan aimed at creating growing spaces to serve every school in Lincoln County. The Child Nutrition program team at LCSD are making impressive strides with local purchasing and serving garden grown food in the cafeterias as well.

 If you are part of a different school or district and would like help getting gardens started at your school please reach out to us. We are beginning to move into other parts of Oregon and we are developing relationships with other districts or private entities looking for support.

Since the summer of 2023, 10 high school students have been able to earn stipends for their time spent maintaining and managing gardens in Lincoln County. They have learned basic horticulture, construction, and garden planning skills. Sign up for our newsletter on our home page to get notifications when recruitment opens.
